UAE Extends NAFIS Program Until 2040 to Advance Emiratisation Goals
The UAE continues to strengthen its Emiratisation strategy through the extension of the NAFIS Program until 2040, reinforcing its role in supporting sustainable private sector employment for UAE Nationals. Originally launched in 2021, the program is entering a new phase focused on long-term workforce development, improved financial support structures, and increased private sector participation, with key updates gradually taking effect from September 2026.
Key revisions include a new minimum salary threshold of AED 6,000 effective January 2026, adjustments to salary support with the cap reduced to AED 20,000 from September 2026, and a phased reduction in benefits over time. The program will also see enhanced pension support, with government contributions covering employees while employers maintain their share. Additional refinements aim to ensure a smoother transition for non-MoHRE or non-CBUAE entities, with eligibility limited to employees in regulated entities registered in UAE pension funds.
